Rachel Gripp is a senior music performance major from Fort Wayne. Rachel has been playing the oboe for 11 years.
“I started playing the oboe when I was in 6th grade. My dad played bassoon in high school and he inspired me to start the oboe. Even though he played the bassoon, he also loved the sound of the oboe. So, he listened to oboe solos with me, and really encouraged me to pick the oboe.
“I chose to attend Ball State because I was able to use both an academic and musical scholarship to help with tuition. I also really liked the size and atmosphere of campus. I have many favorite memories with all of my friends here at Ball State. However, if I had to pick my favorite it would be going on tour to Boston with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra. It was an amazing experience!”
