Professor Cassius Goens is the instructor of jazz percussion at the School of Music.
“I have been teaching 11 years, with 5 of those at Ball State. I have been playing the drums since age 11 and was always drawn to music and percussion. What I enjoy and love most about being a professor at Ball State are the students! I truly enjoy watching my students succeed and grow during their time with me. I try to support and encourage them as much as I possibly can. As a native of Muncie, I also enjoy being able to contribute to the community here.”
Cassius will be performing with the Faculty Jazz Combo on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Hahn Recital Hall.
“We will be performing the music of the Dave Pell Octet for the jazz faculty concert. My experience working with jazz faculty has been great! Everyone is a world class musician and many I have had the pleasure of knowing for quite a while, even before I started teaching at Ball State. It is a real treat to get to play with musicians who are also your friends. I learn from my colleagues constantly. We push each other to perform at the highest level which is both challenging and rewarding.”📸 @dzellidesign
