Po-chen Chang is an international student from Tainan, Taiwan and is working towards an Artist Diploma in music performance.
“I started studying cello when I was ten years old. I choose it as my instrument not only because I like its warm sound, but also because I noticed that cellists always get to sit in a chair. That really appealed to my 10-year-old self! I auditioned for Ball State University in Taiwan at the auditions held there run by violin professor Dr. Yu-Fang Chen. I am really thankful for this great opportunity to study aboard! In addition, my professor Dr. Peter Opie has helped me make a lot of great improvements in my playing. I have learned a lot from him not only on cello playing but also on ways to practice and attitude of performance. I am so glad that I choose Ball State!”
