Dr. Michael Pounds is the professor of music theory and composition, and a co-director of the Music Media Production program, from Maple Heights, a suburb of Cleveland.
“I am finishing up my 20th year at Ball State. This is really my first job teaching music, so I have been teaching for 20 years. What I have enjoyed most is working in the intersection between science/technology and music, and helping students to be creative in this area.
“My advice to incoming undergraduates: use this time to really dig deeply into the study of music and explore the different ways you can make music a part of your life, professionally or otherwise. We are all fortunate to have had the opportunity and resources to learn so much about music and to develop our talents…not something to be taken for granted.”
