Annie King is a second year Doctor of Arts Student pursuing a primary in harp performance and secondary in adult and community education. She is from McConnell, IL, which sits in the very Northwest corner of Illinois.
“My experience at Ball State has helped me to grow immensely in all areas, but especially in teaching, for which I had little previous experience with. One of the most valuable things I have gained in my time here has be the ability to balance between being a student, performer, and teacher, as well as remembering to incorporate some downtime too.”
Annie is also one of the Graduate Concerto Competition winners and performed with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra on April 23!
“I’m really excited to be performing the third movement of the Ginastera harp concerto with the BSSO. The trick for me is to practice the things that need to be kept up/polished and to not over-practice, which sometimes happens when I’ve been working on something for a while. I sometimes will setup my practice sessions to focus on maybe one or two pieces at a time, and rotate my repertoire that way, depending on what needs my attention most at that particular time.” 📸: @jkwcreative
