Alex Gushrowski is a 3rd year undergraduate general/vocal music education major from La Porte, Indiana.

“I have been singing for my entire life since middle school. I became more active in the vocal ensembles at my high school, which led to what inspired me to pursue a career in music. In my own personal experience, music has given me an outlet in life where I have experienced the most change as an individual and how I function on a daily basis. I would not have gained these skills and morals as an individual if it was not for the time I have spent in music. As a music education major, I hope to use what I have learned and will continue to learn to help enrich and develop young students’ lives through music. I am grateful for my colleagues and faculty that continue to inspire and motivate me every day.

“My fondest memory at Ball State so far was the performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony for the Masterworks Concert last year. The final product was a result of hundreds of dedicated and hardworking musicians coming together to create an experience that will have a long-lasting impact on people. The feeling of creating music with others who are just as passionate and dedicated will always accomplish wonders, and these performances are a testament to this idea. We, the people in the Ball State School of Music, came together to perform a masterpiece for hundreds of people, and this will be a memory and experience as a musician I will always value.” 📸: Dominic Zelli
