Sierra Watson is a junior music performance major from Cincinnati, Ohio.

“I started playing bassoon in the 7th grade when my middle school band director suggested that I should try it. It really stuck with me and I’ve been playing for over 8 years. My fondest memory so far would have to be any of the ones I‘ve made with the friends I’ve met here. Ball State has given me friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life!”

Sierra is the 2020 Undergraduate Concerto Competition winner.

“I will be playing Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto for Bassoon in F Major. This will be my first time soloing with an orchestra, so I am super excited! To prepare for the performance, I’ve been practicing A LOT and have been working with my professor, Dr. Keith Sweger.”
