Ryan Hourigan is currently finishing his 13th year on faculty at Ball State and is the director of the School of Music. Dr. Hourigan is originally from Central Illinois (Taylorville), but went to high school in Roeland Park, Kansas in the Kansas City Metro-area. He holds degrees from Eastern Illinois University (B.M.), Michigan State University (M.M. wind conducting), and a Ph.D. in music education from The University of Michigan.

In celebration of the Ball State University Centennial, the School of Music presented our debut concert at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis Sunday, April 14. The concert included Ball State’s Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Combined Choirs with works by Jake Runestad, Percy Grainger, Omar Thomas, and Ludwig van Beethoven (Symphony No. 9). When asked about the concert, Dr. Hourigan said:

“I am very excited to see the over 300 student musicians collaborate! This includes some wonderful faculty and alumni soloists. Our ensembles are performing at such a high level with the strong support they receive and the hard work and dedication of our faculty and students. It’s going to be a concert you will not want to miss. See you on April 14!”
