Sarah Ralston is a Junior music education major.
“Music has always been a very integral part of my life. I don’t have any professional musicians in my family, but my family and I have always sung in church for as long as I can remember. I live right down the street from my former high school, so I grew up hearing and passing marching band rehearsals for many years. My parents have told me that from the time I could talk that I wanted to do marching band. I remember always going and watching rehearsals and I was so fascinated with what they were doing. I chose to play clarinet in sixth grade simply because it looked pretty. As I continued through my high school career, I fell in love with being part of something that is bigger than myself. There’s not a specific moment where I decided to pursue music as a career, but I can’t see myself doing anything else besides music. I wanted to pursue music education to help give students more compassion, more love, more gentleness, amazing memories, and more life, through music.”
