Welcome back to our new feature Retweet Rapport! Grab a warm drink, get comfortable, and dive right in to this week’s tweets.
We began the week by asking you about the assumptions surrounding English majors.
What assumptions do you get when you say you’re an English major? The good news is you’re not alone: https://t.co/GAD4SpF3YU

Most of you discussed the typical “English major” stereotypes…
i’m tired of getting asked if i’m going to be a writer or a teacher because of my english degree; there’s nothing wrong with either, but English majors can do so many professions #underrated

Honestly, I just get freaked out when people ask what I want to do with my major. Like, I’m still working on it! I can do anything, I’m still in the process of learning all of my options 🌟

(Us too Sophie, us too!)
When I tell people I want to get my masters degree to become a librarian, they always ask how I feel that libraries won’t be needed anymore because everything is going digital.
Pretty sure you still need someone who can work with important archives and research!

…but others had more humorous interactions.
If I’m lucky, someone will first ask me if I want to write professionally (I do!) but then the next question they ask is if they could be a character in one of my stories. 🤦🏻♀️

Even with these stressors, #bsuenglish accomplished so much this week!
I sent my prof a paper I wrote last year (of course about Harry Potter and Frankenstein) and she said the nicest things back 😭 #bsuenglish genuinely has the best professors EVER pic.twitter.com/Vn1yUuZU0L

I spent 3 weeks #writing a book chapter, worrying that I might not have enough to say to fulfill the 8,000 word minimum. Now, I’m finding places to cut so that it stays under the 9,000 word maximum. That’s the process. #bsuEnglish

We’re so proud of you all!
Of course, we couldn’t leave out the biggest accomplishment of all, winning #bsuenglish’s Tweet of the Week! Congratulations to Sarah Dalton-Braswell!
I dog ear pages! Also, I think HP is wonderful. I read the books as a teen, though, so who knows how I’d feel reading them as an adult. For me, HP represents a part of my youth. I grew up with those characters.
