James Haston is the English department’s new advisor!

What attracted you to working at Ball State?

Not only did both of my parents graduate from BSU, my mother 2 times, I also graduated from BSU 2 times. I was lucky enough to return to BSU to pass on my experiences and knowledge of BSU to future generations.

What’s good advice that you might have for an English student to succeed?

The syllabi for all of your classes are the most important tool you have to be successful in those classes. As soon as you get those, pick your favorite calendar and mark when things are due. It is a great way to see when your busy times are.

Are you currently reading anything?

Sun and the Star by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro. I am a huge fan of Rick Riordan.

An interesting hobby you have?

This is a dangerous question as I am a nerd many times over. Dungeons and Dragons would be the most interesting because I tend to be a Game Master at Gen Con down in Indy every other year.
