In a recent email to the English department, Prof. Rani Crowe wrote, “During this time when we are all social distancing and staying home, I have created a film series for the English Department and friends to be able to watch a movie together and chat online about it.
Crowe says that the goals of #BSUEnglish Film Screenings on Thursday nights at 7:30 PM were:
- to create a series of films with diverse representation, voices, styles and subjects to enhance our curriculum
- to inspire conversations about films in the same way that, say, the InPrint Festival inspires conversations about books
- to provide an opportunity to build the #bsuenglish community while staying home and staying safe
She tried a few platforms and streaming services and ended up going with Kanopy and Amazon Prime Watch Party (for watching) and a Facebook Group (for chatting)
