For the first time ever, a committee of Ball State’s English Education Club is organizing a one-day conference. They want to foster professional development not just within their own program, but all secondary education programs at Ball State.
So the Story Goes: A Conference for Future Educators will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. in the Letterman Building.
Erin Goff, Vice President of the English Ed Club, said that the inspiration for the conference came for one simple reason: Texas is a long way from Indiana.
“Over the years, English Education Club members have often attended the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) Convention. When many of us couldn’t afford to travel to Texas this year, we had the idea to create our own one-day conference. We wanted to take advantage of the expertise of professionals and peers right here at Ball State.”
Goff says that the day will be comprised of four session blocks. “In each session, we will invite both education majors and professors to enrich our understanding of the teaching profession and the topics we’ll encounter in our journeys to becoming practicing teachers. We hope people will join us as we continue to write our stories as educators.”
