Here Comes the Cinema Entertainment Immersion

The Cinema Entertainment Immersion (CEI) is an annual collaborative immersion program involving Ball State students from English, TCOM and Theater.

What’s it all about?

In a nutshell: Short films written, produced and starring Ball State students.

The CEI begins during the Fall Semester in my classroom as my screenwriting students learn the ins and outs of cinematic storytelling and develop original, short scripts suitable for production here at Ball State.  At the end of the semester, I select the top fifteen or twenty “CEI appropriate” scripts written by his students over the course of the semester.

Of these, five are chosen for production.

These five scripts go into production at the beginning of the Spring Semester.  The Theater Department auditions and casts student actors for the principal roles, and Telecommunications students work in teams to direct and produce the films.

The finished films, which are entirely the product of Ball State students, are then screened at the annual CEI Showcase.

This year’s Cinema Entertainment Immersion Showcase will be held on April, 27th at 7:00 PM in Pruis Hall.

Hope to see you there for this screening of compelling, original student work.
