Welcome to the
Department of Anthropology
With a history dating back to 1955, the Ball State Anthropology’s department strives to achieve excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, maintain active research, and engage in service activities within the university and public sectors. Anthropologists look for interactions among culture, biology, and the external environment. They bring to their work a holistic perspective on human behavior that allows them to understand the functioning of human groups and apply their skills and insights in any setting.
