This semester, a new group rises from the student population. Selected because of their passionate nature, the Student Technology Advisory Council will help advise, collect data and enhance the future of IT at Ball State.

Ball State becomes increasingly digital each year. And with some new technological ideas on the rise, IT and other administration departments pulled in students to shed light on their ideas and opinions.

The council unofficially started during the Fall 2023 semester. Ball State students were invited to an informational session about the future of Ball State technology. After this meeting, the Ball State students had the chance to continue IT’s efforts and join the official Student Technology Advisory Council.

One semester later and the first official meeting of the Student Technology Advisory Council took in early February.

The meeting was hosted by Executive Director of the Digital Corps Brandon Smith. The agenda consisted of an opening from Vice President of IT and Chief Information Officer Loren Malm, a conversation about the future of Ball State technology with Associate Vice President of University Communications and Digital Strategy Greg Fallon and wrapping up with a tour of the Student Technology Suites.

This council will meet up throughout each semester to discuss the digital side of Ball State. The goal of this council is to receive straightforward feedback to ensure the best experience for Ball State students.

With the help of the Student Technology Advisory Council, Ball State is taking its digital experience to a new level.
