The Digital Corps was nominated for the Educational Impact award at the 2023 Mira Awards ceremony. The Mira Awards honor the ‘best of tech’ in Indiana and nominate high achievers.

According to TechPoint’s website, the Educational Impact award recognizes STEM educators, organizations, coaches, programs, and platforms that inspire and open doors for learners of any ages, create economic opportunities and have an undeniably positive impact on student achievement and the future workforce.

A nomination for an inspirational category such as the Educational Impact award was a huge honor for the Digital Corps and was the first time the organization was nominated for a Mira Award.

A few devoted student workers from the Digital Corps; Brandon Smith, Executive Director; and Riley Paulsen, Assistant Director, attended the black-tie event on April 22. The crew of tech students and staff enjoyed a delicious meal before the awards were announced.

The Digital Corps did not win their category; however, they were excited and grateful for the opportunity to attend such a prestigious event.

Tyler Newlin, a Ball State student worker majoring in computer science, was honored to attend. “One of the nominees was a kid from a high school, so it was super inspirational to see him start his own company. It was cool to see a lot of tech companies in Indiana. It seems we’re on the rise with tech.”

Overall, the Digital Corps had an inspirational night at the Mira Awards, and hope to return soon and bring home a win.
