Ball State University’s Writing Program is excited to announce November’s First Friday Series speaker, Tammy Conard-Salvo, associate director of the Purdue Writing Lab who will present “The Purdue OWL and the Land Grant Mission: Uncovering Invisible Innovation and Research” on November 1 at 1:00 PM in Carmichael Hall 203.
The Purdue OWL, a free online repository of writing materials, began as the first of its kind in writing center technology. The site is now a popular mainstay that receives more than 248 million hits per year. The Writing Lab’s focus on usability research has strengthened ties between technology and the humanities. This presentation traces the history of the OWL and describes how the OWL’s emphasis on users and accessibility has enabled innovation behind the scenes.
All are welcome to join us November 1 at 1:00 PM in Carmichael Hall 203.
