In honor of Women’s History Month, African-American studies scholar Dr. Sharon Lynette Jones will visit Ball State University on Tuesday, March 19 from 5-6pm in the Letterman Building (LB) 125.

Dr. Sharon Lynette Jones will share her current research on renowned scholar Angela Davis through her presentation,“Angela Davis and the Power of Protest: Exploring the Dynamics of Resistance and Agency in Interviews and Autobiography.”

This event is sponsored by African-American Studies in collaboration with Women’s and Gender Studies.

Dr. Jones is a professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Previously, she served as director and assistant director of the African and African American Studies program at Wright State. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.

Currently, she is the editor of Conversations with Angela Davis (under contract with University Press of Mississippi). In addition, she will contribute to and edit the book project Resisting Injustice: Contemporary Views on Angela Davis, which she has envisioned as a collection of essays from a variety of scholars. In October 2018, Dr. Jones also engaged in archival research on Angela Davis as the recipient of a Rose Library fellowship at Emory University.
