Welcome to the
Department of Biology

Our department is one of the largest in the College of Sciences and Humanities with more than 1,400 students. We offer bachelor’s degree programs, pre-health professional programs, a teaching licensure program, minors, master’s degrees, a biotechnology certificate, and a doctoral degree.

We pride ourselves on being readily available to students and providing them the support they need to excel in their fields. Through small class and lab sizes, our faculty and students are often on a first name basis. In addition, students work alongside faculty on current and innovative research projects, gaining practical experience while earning their degree.

Our rigorous programs ensure that you will graduate with excellent skills and comprehensive knowledge that aids in a successful career path. Employers who visit campus tell us that our students compare very favorably with other students from other institutions in professionalism, communication skills, and biological knowledge. But they are mostly impressed with the hands-on experiences that our students gain.
