J-Day Registration is Open!

Welcome to a new semester! Here at Ball State Journalism Workshops, we are busy, busy bees! Here are a few updates on what is happening here in Cardinal Country:

Journalism Day

The 63rd Annual BSUJW Journalism Day on Friday, April 27, is fast approaching! Right now, we are finalizing the registration process and working on promotional materials. Registration will open tomorrow, February 1, and close April 18. You’ll notice when you try to register that it looks a little different than in the past. This will be because of a hosting change for our registration processor, so bear with us as we work through the kinks of this new system!

One of our new office assistants, Chester, created a screencast to help you navigate the new registration system! Check that out here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LZDeyloTtlUgv_5S1hy9IlGzCxbI6umb/view?usp=sharing

We can’t wait to see everyone at J-Day 2018! Finger’s crossed for beautiful weather!

J-Day Contests

Contests will open March 1 and close on March 31. Because of this timeframe, we will not be conducting March contests. As a reminder, J-Day Contests are open to everyone! Even if you are not attending J-Day, you and your staff can still submit work in the contests!

Additionally, if you are interested in speaking at J-Day or Judging J-Day contests, please fill out the google form below, if you have not already! We will begin contacting J-Day speakers in early February and J-Day judges in early March!

Monthly Contests

February Contests are LIVE on Submittable! Submit your entries before the end of the month. Insider Tip: If you submit work in our monthly contests, you can always email bsuworkshops@bsu.edu and request a critique of your work from our staff! It can be a great, low-pressure way to receive feedback on your publications!

Summer Workshops

The 52nd Annual BSUJW Summer Workshops will take place June 10-14, 2018! Registration will open February 14th and will close May 14th. This year, we are retiring the printed registration system and implementing an online registration form! This, similar to J-Day, is not only new to you and your students, but to us as well! Please bear with us as we transition into this new system!

Website Management

As we continuously try to improve our brand, pieces of the Workshops Website may be under construction at different points during the semester! In the event that you are unable to find the information you need on the BSUJW website, feel free to call us at 765-285-8900 or email us at bsuworkshops@bsu.edu.

New Faces!

You’ll soon start seeing some new faces around Ball State Journalism Workshops, as we have brought in four new staff members this semester! We are excited for them to jump in and begin their journey with BSUJW!
