[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ach year the ACEJMC-accredited Ball State University Department of Journalism awards nearly $8,000 in scholarships to incoming freshmen.

With majors in news, magazine media, photojournalism, journalism graphics, journalism education, advertising and public relations, we have something for everyone!

Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500, some of which are renewable. Online applications can be completed at BSU.Freshman.Scholarships or by copying and pasting https://bsu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cuvkyFTrZrknMHP into your web browser. Applications can only be submitted digitally. It would be advisable to review the application questions and assemble the necessary PDFs prior to completing the online application.

With roughly 19,000 on-campus students, our department consists of about 1,000 journalism majors (grad & undergrad) with 30 full-time faculty. Department class sizes average about 25 students.

We offer numerous opportunities for students to get involved in student media and organizations — which operate out of the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Unified Media Lab and the Holden Center for Strategic Communications. At Ball State, students can start getting clips and building a career-focused portfolio working for campus media and organizations as soon as they step foot onto campus as freshmen.
