Produced by the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support, the magazine continues our commitment to highlighting the data-informed work shaping decisions across Ball State University. At its heart, IRDS Magazine showcases the analysis and analytics that supports thoughtful planning, strengthens institutional effectiveness, and advances student success in practical, meaningful ways.

This second volume features Year 3 & 4 highlights, research spotlights, campus collaborations, and stories that bring data to life. You’ll see how analysis and partnership come together to inform strategy, guide action, and create measurable impact across campus. It’s written for faculty, staff, and administrators who want an accessible look at how data supports progress.

As you explore Volume 2, we also encourage you to revisit Volume 1 for valuable context on our early progress and key initiatives. In the inaugural issue, we introduced our data governance strategy, the development of the Data Warehouse, and tools like the Student Lifecycle dashboard that provide real-time insights into enrollment and retention. We also highlighted the launch of the Data Rating System and early predictive modeling efforts to support student success, setting the foundation for the work you’ll see continue and evolve in this volume.
