“Book of Hours”

European Art, 1200s-1500s, Tour
Saturday | February 6 at 2:30 pm
Emily Dykstra leads a docent tour that discussing European art from 1200-1500. Discussing items such as the “Book of Hours” and the “Madonna and Child” paintings, Dykstra will inform and educate the public on these items, and more, that are on display in the museum.

Chinese New Year
Sunday | February 7 at 2:30 pm
T1937.500.083v01Join in a special program for families about Chinese New Year and see some Chinese art too. Prepare to be loud and have some fun. Meet Chinese exchange student Minghao “Patrick” Yang and hear him play an authentic Chinese instrument, the erhu.

John Peterson Pottery and Contemporary Ceramics

Representing a long line of local ceramicists, John Peterson will illuminate the historical and contemporary connections. In 1968 Mr. Peterson started the Bethel Pike Pottery with Alan Patrick. Four years later he started his own studio, the John Peterson Pottery, located north of Muncie, Indiana, which he continues today. John Peterson studied with BSU ceramics professor Marvin Reichle.

George Wolfe Leads Meditation in the Museum

Silent Meditation sessions are conducted by George Wolfe, Professor Emeritus and former director of the BSU Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution. This week’s meditation is titled “Focus on the Growth of Human Consciousness: the nine pivotal awakenings.” These sessions last 45 minutes. Meet in the Owsley Asian Art Gallery in front of the Amidha Buddha. Chairs provided; bring a towel, mat, or blanket, if desired.

Mask-Making Workshop

Look at masks in the collection with artist-teacher Aaron Nicholson and create your own work of art for display on March 3 at the downtown gallery of the BSU College of Architecture and Planning called Muncie Makes Lab. Students will learn how to make a sculpture using an armature, papier-mâché, and found objects.
