Founded in 1977, the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology has grown to become one of the largest criminal justice programs in the United States and was one of the first programs to be accredited by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

Our faculty, students, and alumni are passionate about law, security, justice and service, seeking to improve the quality of life of communities across the country. We at the CJC engage in all cultures, seeking to understand them and engage in fruitful conversation. Whether on the front lines making daily decisions or enacting change at a larger level, we always seek to improve the lives of those we serve.
