On the evening of Thursday, February 6, Ball State students, faculty, and staff along with Muncie community members gathered to engage in a conversation about “Race and Police” with community policing expert Lorenzo Boyd and historians Simon Balto and Max Felker-Kantor. Criminal Justice and Criminology professor Kiesha Warren-Gordon moderated the conversation, and members of the audience asked a wide range of insightful questions about the relationship between police and Black and Brown communities. This event was organized by the African American Studies program, and it showcased just how vital the program is to facilitating these kinds of timely discussions.
