For Dr. Jennifer DeSilva and Dr. Daniel Ingram, the 2023-2024 academic year was their final year as colleagues in the History Department at Ball State. Dr. DeSilva left Ball State to begin a new teaching and administrative position at the University of Toronto on January 1, 2024. Dr. Ingram left Ball State at the end of the academic year to enter retirement in Holland, Michigan where he and his wife Stacey are building a new home.  

Both Dr. DeSilva and Dr. Ingram made lasting contributions to the History Department. Dr. DeSilva joined the History faculty in 2010 as our specialist in 16th–century European history and with a special interest in the history of the papacy. She taught survey and specialty courses in European history to both undergraduate and graduate students. She was also an active, productive scholar with numerous presentations and publications to her credit. Her book, The Office of Ceremonies and Advancement in Curial Rome, 1466-1528, was published by Brill in 2022. Dr. DeSilva also served as assistant chair of the History Department from 2018-2023. 

Dr. Ingram also joined the History faculty at Ball State in 2010. He taught lower-level undergraduate courses in the American survey and upper-division and graduate courses in his specialty, Early American history and Native American history. He also presented and published extensively in his field, and his book, Indians and British Outposts in Eighteenth Century America, was published by the University of Florida Press in 2012. Dr. Ingram also served as the director of graduate studies for thirteen years. 

As colleagues of Dr. DeSilva and Dr. Ingram, we will miss them but certainly extend them our best wishes as they pursue their new interests.
