A Message from Alan
I want to welcome everyone to 2025, and back to campus for those of us that were able to take advantage of the Days of Beneficence. I know that some of you work those days, and we all appreciate it. I hope you all were able to take some time to spend with family or friends in ways that matter to you. I am not someone that makes New Years resolutions, but I do think it is a good time to reflect on the past year and make some mental personal goals. Mine this year were again about spending more time with my family and making sure I try to bring my joyful self to work as much as I can. Thank you all for what you do. Ball State would not be what it is without all of you and the work you all do so well, and so joyfully.
With gratitude,
Alan

Student Financial Services & Systems
Please join us in congratulating Jon Mock for passing his final certification exam yesterday and becoming an Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®). The AFC® designation is a difficult certification to obtain and requires thousands of hours of financial experience and a long list of financial tools and resources to learn and master. Jon has been diligently studying to obtain this certification this past Fall. Along with Evan, Jon would be the second AFC® on the team and among a select group in our state and the country. This accomplishment will add a layer of confidence to the services our team provides in Financial wellness. It will enhance the day-to-day counseling and coaching services to help students and families reach financial security through education, information, tools and resources. Congrats again Jon, we are happy to have you on the team and look forward to further growing Financial Wellness services at the University.

Reminders
Student Spotlights
We started a new initiative to celebrate our student employees! We feature student spotlight posts on our social media platforms and right here on our blog. If there’s a student you’d like to spotlight, please share the link to our quick Microsoft form that can be found here.
Recognition Preference Forms
Business Affairs would like to know how you prefer to be recognized. We’ve partnered with IT to create a Recognition Preferences form in Service Now to capture your preferences relevant to your birthday, workiversary (work anniversary), and life milestone events. Here’s how it works. You may complete your form here.
Once the form has been completed, you will receive a notification. Business Affairs and your supervisor of record will also receive a notification. If you’ve indicated that you’d like to be recognized for your birthday, you’ll need to provide your supervisor with your birthday month to be celebrated within your department. Business Affairs will use the information to celebrate you in The BA Chirp.
Leadership Level-Up
We believe that our employees can lead from any position. If you’ve read a book, earned a certification, or completed a course that has supported your leadership journey and could benefit a coworker or colleague, we invite you to share it here. Your contributions will be shared with the BA community.
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday month to Rhonda Wilson, Executive Director of Human Resources, Engagement, Wellbeing and Culture! We are celebrating another year of life with you and hope you enjoy your special day!
