Engagement and Loneliness

One in five employees globally report experiencing loneliness a lot in the previous day.  The World Health Organization reports that loneliness and social isolation have a serious impact on physical and mental health, quality of life and longevity.  These health risks are comparable to smoking daily, excessive drinking and obesity.

According to the State of the Global Workplace: 2024 Report, researchers found that employment status makes a difference.  Those who work are less likely to experience loneliness than those who are unemployed, and if the employee is engaged, they are even less likely to experience loneliness.

Focusing on engagement in the workplace makes a difference.
