The University Libraries’ Digital Scholarship and Scholarly Communication (DSSC) unit advances the creation, dissemination, and preservation of open access research and digital scholarship created at Ball State University through: collaborative opportunities, workshops and instruction, consultative services, and technology solutions. Currently, the unit focuses on:
- GIS (mapping, spatial data and analysis)
- Journal hosting program (OJS journal management software)
- Scholarly communication (knowledge and resources including copyright, publishing lifecycles, ORCID, OER)
- Web hosting (for teaching and learning such as WordPress, Scalar, and Omeka)
As part of the University Libraries’ vision of innovation—by connecting people, cultures, and knowledge—and as a leader in student success and faculty advancement, the DSSC unit is looking to enhance existing offerings and create new opportunities for educational, research, and creative experiences that fit into the digital research and publishing scope. As part of this effort, the DSSC unit is conducting an environmental scan and campus survey.
