You’ve put all of your time and effort into finishing a story/design/photo/video/podcast/etc. and your entire school has seen your work. Why not submit it for contests and get recognized for your talent?
BSU Journalism Workshops hosts monthly contests, which gives you even more chances to enter your work and win awards. No more waiting for your national or state conventions. Once you have work complete, enter it!
Here’s how BSU Journalism Workshops’ monthly contests work:
- Each month’s contests open on the first day of the month and close on the last day of the month.
- Judges will have results finished by the 15th of the next month. (i.e. September’s contest results will be published by Oct. 15.)
- There will be one winner in each category and winners will receive certificates in the mail.
- All entries will receive feedback if requested.
- Each entry costs $6.
Not all of the work submitted has to be previously published (although most has). You may submit unpublished work as long as it has the potential to be published. So that feature story you’ve been working on in your free time can be submitted, but your English essay wouldn’t make the cut.
Who can enter monthly contests?
Anyone! Well, technically only middle or high school students, but it is not limited to the Indiana area. Students across the country can enter our monthly contests, and we will mail your certificates to your school should you win.
Why should you submit contest entries?
Because you want your work to be recognized! Even if you don’t win in a category, the feedback you get on your work will help you build stronger skills and have better entries for the next month.
So what are you waiting for? Find your best clips from the last month and enter now. You can find the contest categories here and payment options here.
Good luck!
