We’ve told you the best places to eat in Indianapolis and given you some tips on how to take advantage of the convention itself, but what about that free time you may have in the evenings? Use this list of places to visit in Indy to plan out where you’d like to go because the convention is now just 15 days away!

IF YOU SEE ANYTHING IN CIRCLE CITY, IT MUST BE…

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum. As someone not from Indiana, I’ve been told this museum is a must-see. As the largest children’s museum in the country, it is also one of the best, so don’t miss out on the chance to be a kid again.

SPEAKING OF MUSEUMS…

If you want to learn a bit about Indiana’s history while also checking out some contemporary exhibits, the Indiana State Museum is for you. The museum allows visitors to explore the cultural history of Indiana and is currently celebrating the state’s bicentennial.

There’s also the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which houses more than 54,000 pieces of art spanning over 5,000 years. The museum also includes the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres, which features art installations that also serve as hands-on experiences and includes the famous “Funky Bones” (as mentioned in John Green’s novel, “The Fault in Our Stars”), and the Oldfields–Lilly House & Gardens, a beautiful 26-acre estate.

If history and art aren’t in your interests, try the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The Indy 500 might not be until May 28, 2017, but those of you interested in the annual race can start here to learn more about its history.

IF YOU’D RATHER BE OUTSIDE…

Check out the Indianapolis Zoo. Who doesn’t love learning more about animals from around the world? The Indianapolis Zoo is just a 30-minute walk or 6-minute drive from the convention hotel, and it won Best Family Entertainment by Indy A List.

The zoo is located in White River State Park, which features green spaces, trails, trees, and waterways, and is home to home to Indianapolis Indians Baseball at Victory Field, the state’s largest IMAX® Theater, the NCAA Hall of Champions Museum, the Indiana State Museum and The Lawn at White River State Park concert venue.

You could also take a nice walk along the beautiful canals. The Canal Walk stretches north through White River State Park to 11th Street, and is often busy with walkers, runners, bikers and sightseers. Or, rent a pedal boat and cruise down the canals yourself.

AND IF THOSE SUGGESTIONS DIDN’T APPEAL TO YOU…

You could check out Circle Centre Mall. This four-story mall includes more than 100 retailers, a movie theater and eight sit-down restaurants.

But you should really try checking out some of those other museums and attractions.
