This year, 1EdTech bestowed its Leadership Award to one of Ball State University’s own: Loren Malm.

1EdTech is an organization dedicated to “making day-to-day activities easier and more impactful for educators, administrators, and learners.” The 1EdTech community also recognizes members who make significant contributions to the betterment of education technology, such as via their Leadership Award.

According to 1EdTech’s CEO Curtiss Barnes, this award is for “the individuals who go above and beyond in service of the community, bringing the expertise, collaboration, and commitment needed to help make technology work seamlessly, safely, and meaningfully for every learner.”

Headshot of Loren Malm

Loren Malm’s service to Ball State University spans over 30 years, demonstrating his dedication to higher education. Presently, he serves as the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. As part of the President’s Cabinet, he works alongside campus leaders, including the President and Board of Trustees, to ensure strategic technology use across campus.

However, his service on our campus is not the only indication of his leadership and commitment to strategic technology. His participation in the TrustEd Apps Advocacy group and presentations on 1EdTech’s interoperability standards also demonstrate the qualities that this award aims to celebrate.

Please join us in congratulating Vice President Malm on this wonderful achievement and on his continued devotion to ensuring strategic technology use across campus!
