Natalie Pierce, a student employee in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Operations Control Center (OCC) has been nominated for Student Employee of the Year at Ball State. Natalie was nominated by her supervisor, Sharee Conatser, Operations Coordinator for the OCC, and joins eleven other Ball State student nominees for the recognition.

Each April, colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of student employees by celebrating National Student Employment Week. Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. The nominees are judged against the eight core competencies put forth by the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) – Communication, Digital Technology, Problem Solving, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Intercultural Fluency, Career Management, Leadership, and Teamwork.

Natalie is part of the Student Technician team, which helps monitor all of the critical systems on campus and respond to service impacting events, as well as coordinating between the necessary IT teams.

In nominating Natalie, Sharee said,

“When Natalie perceives a possible problem, she doesn’t hesitate to act. If she doesn’t know the answer, she will find the answer. Her dedication and attention to detail in everything she does will be the key to her success. I can depend on Natalie and I hold her in high regard.”

Other students in the OCC say that Natalie “has a commanding presence,” and “is able to explain things in a way to make you understand.”

In addition to her student employment role in the OCC, Natalie works as an EMT-B at Heartland Ambulance Service and hopes to continue a career in the medical profession.

Congratulations to Natalie and all the student nominees!
