Highlights From the 2021 Summer Alumni Council Meeting

As we begin a new fiscal year, the Alumni Council has some exciting new updates to share.

Our most recent meeting included tours of two new facilities – the Esports Center in the David Letterman Communication and Media Building and the Schuemann Family Indoor Practice Facility – which are just a sampling of the many on-campus projects completed in the past year.

The Council participated in a bias training session facilitated by the Office of Inclusive Excellence at Ball State. As the group strives to represent the overall alumni population, the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) understanding and dialog has never been more critical.

The business meeting of the Council had a full schedule. New officers and directors were elected, with terms starting on July 1. The new Alumni Association leadership includes:

The resulting modifications elevate the collegiate representatives to the college level versus from a department society. The fiscal year 2022 budget was approved, including a nine percent increase in programmatic investment for the coming year.

The next meeting of the Alumni Council is scheduled for November 11-12, 2021.
