The Project Management (PM) Team provides crucial guidance to other teams at the Digital Corps as they work on various projects. Specifically, the PM Team schedules and leads project meetings, keeps track of each team’s progress on project-related tasks, and communicates with clients. As such, the PM Team is one of the only teams that is guaranteed to work on every project that comes through the Corps.
While the User Experience, Development, and Design Teams are largely responsible for the creation of the Charlie’s Charter Widget, the PM Team contributed to important background tasks that helped move the project along. Specifically, this project involved many different steps, including initial research about how the application would work internally, pilot testing, and incorporating adjustments aimed at enhancing user experience. The PM Team was responsible for organizing all of these tasks into a manageable calendar and ensuring that the final product met the client’s wants and needs.

Aiden Riegle, the PM Team member assigned to this project, explains its impact on his own growth: “Seeing a project of this scale and this priority from start to finish has helped me so much in planning and [managing] future projects because in my mind, if we could do this, we could do anything.”

Krista Finley, the PM Team Lead, describes this project and others that the Ball State community uses as “rewarding and meaningful.”
The Charlie’s Charter Widget is still under development, but thanks to the PM Team’s guidance and scheduling efforts, it is on track to be ready for use in the fall semester. This project, just like many others, allows members of the PM Team to enhance their organization, communication, and leadership skills, which are essential for project management both in and outside of the Corps.
