MARCH 30 | 4PM Reception | 5PM Lecture | Architecture Building AB100

The Ethan Whitehead Guest Lecture in Sustainability welcomes this year’s speaker, Robert Adams, on Monday, March 30. Established in memory of Ethan Whitehead, a Ball State student who tragically passed away in 2021, the series honors his legacy by advancing meaningful dialogue on sustainability in the built environment.

Robert Adams is a Principal Landscape Architect at Halvorson Design Studio recognized for his creative and forward-thinking approach to resilient public space design. His work spans urban parks, waterfronts, campuses, and healing gardens, with notable projects including the award-winning Climate Ready South Boston plan and other transformative waterfront initiatives.

In Saving Boston’s Seafront – Innovation in Coastal Resiliency and the Public Realm, Rob will explore how design can help coastal cities respond to rising seas and climate risk while enhancing community spaces. Drawing from projects in Boston, he will share strategies that integrate climate adaptation, community engagement, and placemaking to create vibrant, resilient waterfronts for future generations.
