The Interior Design students are putting their creativity and craftsmanship to work by refinishing and repurposing furniture for a silent auction. Proceeds from this event will help fund materials for their final project—a lobby renovation for the Department of Child Services—bringing meaningful design to a space that serves children and families in need.
This project is not only an opportunity to give back to the community but also a valuable hands-on learning experience for the students. As they prepare items for the auction and plan the lobby renovation, they apply principles of interior design by selecting appropriate materials and finishes and working within industry regulations. Additionally, they must manage time and costs effectively while specifying products that meet the needs of their client.
Sponsored and coordinated with the Alumni Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron, this initiative allows students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice while making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
