ecoREHAB fixes up rundown homes with the help of high school students, college students, and other volunteers.

Avondale wants to use a house it owns on West Ninth Street as transitional housing for single men. Partnering with ecoREHAB, Associate Lecturer of Construction Management Janet Fick and her students in construction management and architecture, complete a site evaluation. Students provide a house redesign, draft renderings and construction documents, and complete a cost estimate. EcoREHAB will complete the renovations, likely with help from CAP students.

Urban Light Community Development Corp runs a recovery program and a housing revitalization initiative in the Industry and South Central neighborhoods.

Urban Light, working with their partners, purchase vacant lots at auction and need stock plans for new homes they could build efficiently to serve its community. Students, working under Fick’s supervision, completed designs for new construction houses, including construction documents, renderings and cost estimates. Students created three designs: for a single home, a duplex and a quadplex.
