Why is it important to expand the American narrative to include the accomplishments and stories of Black Americans?
“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” – Marcus Garvey
It is this quote that clearly demonstrates why it’s important to have a knowledge of what ALL Americans have done to contribute to our rich tapestry of American History. African Americans have made great accomplishments in architecture and history and for some reason this part of America history is being ignored in schools and textbooks. It’s important for people to know and see people like themselves making historical accomplishments to inspire the younger generation to do great things. Black Americans are Americans and our history is American History!
