Thirty-three of the 200 high-achieving high school and college students who were awarded a Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education will be attending Ball State University in the fall.

Did you participate in any extracurricular activities in high school?

I participated in Volunteer Club, Student Council, cheerleading, and peer mentoring.

What are you planning on studying at Ball State?

Elementary Education

What makes you want to become an educator/teacher?

I have aspirations to become an educator in order to help the children in my community grow into genuine people and functioning members of society.

I have always been deeply connected to Muncie. Since I was a little girl I have had dreams of staying close to home to better the community I grew up in. With Ball State’s amazing Teachers College, I am able to pursue two of my callings: working in my hometown community and becoming an educator.

When you think about heading to college in the fall, is there something you are most excited about/looking forward to?

I am most excited to meet new people, make new friendships, and take more courses pertaining to my interests.

Do you have any hobbies? If so, what?

I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, making jewelry, thrifting, and making coffee runs with close friends.

Fun fact about yourself:

I collect stuffed animals called Squishmallows, and own over 60 of them!
