Step 2: Explore your options

  • Attend a Study Abroad 101 presentation by registering here
  • Read our blog post on the different programs we offer and their pros and cons here
  • Explore our programs by term, region, or type by visiting our website here
  • Click on “Advanced Search” at the top this page to narrow our program options down by multiple fields like major, country, type, and term
  • Read our post with tips on how to finance your study abroad experience here and apply for scholarships outside of the Rinker Center

Step 3: Apply to your program

Click the apply button on your program’s information page. Make sure you’re logged in with your Ball State credentials, select your term, and you’ll see a checklist of what you need to do to complete your application. If you’d also like to apply for Rinker Center Scholarships, this is where you’ll opt in to the application. Once doing so, your study abroad application will expand, so you’ll be able to apply for your program and scholarships all in the same place!

It’s important to note that if you’re applying for a program through a provider like AIFS or KIIS, you’ll do a second application through that provider as well. Their application deadlines may differ from BSU’s deadlines by a few weeks.

Step 4: Commit to your decision

After you’ve been officially accepted, you still have a little time to think everything over. You might still have some questions for financial aid, your academic advisor, disability services, or your family. Have the conversations you need to, and when you’re ready, click the commit button on your application portal.

Step 5: Get ready to go!

Your application will guide you through post-decision tasks like choosing courses, arranging equivalent credits in your department, and flight itineraries. You’ll also have a pre-departure orientation to attend.

At any time during the application process, you can set up a 1-on-1 advising appointment to discuss any questions you have or even just help narrowing down your options and finding a program that fits you and your goals. You can make an advising appointment here.
