In September, Google partnered with Ball State to set up an exclusive Gemini Pro student experience that included an opportunity to receive a free year of Gemini Pro. Located in the Emens Plaza, this one-day pop-up event was packed with Google experts who showed students how to utilize Gemini Pro as a classwork and studying aid, and answered questions about AI.

Putting these tools to the test, Sophomore Media and Journalism Major, Jacey Hollars said

“One thing I’ve really appreciated about Gemini Pro is that I can paste my notes from my readings and classes and have the program reorganize them in an easier-to-study layout! It’s made studying for my online classes way easier!”

With each sign up, students received exclusive swag repping Google Gemini, including stickers, posters, Owala water bottles, and tote bags. Additionally, around 1,300 Ball State students claimed their free year of Gemini Pro.

Everyone involved in the event, from our Ball State team to the Google representatives, felt like the day was a huge success. We engaged with over 1300 Ball State students, which goes a long way in helping our campus find engaging, mindful ways to use AI tools, Associate Vice President for IT, Brandon Smith, said.

Google Gemini Pro is a multifaceted AI platform. The Pro version allows for a bigger window of context allowing for larger inputs and a deeper analysis of information. Whether its documents, pictures, or data sets, Google Gemini can level up the way students are learning. Bringing powerful AI tools to campus empowers students in a rapidly evolving digital world.
