Lucas’ journey in information technology started in high school, where he worked in a computer lab. What began as a curiosity quickly evolved into a career path marked by technical expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for helping people.
After gaining experience with McGraw Hill, Lucas found himself searching for a role closer to home as he prepared to start a family. That search led him to Ball State, where he began his tenure in the tech department at Burris Laboratory School.
“I spent 8 years at Burris as the IT person,” Lucas shared. “It was a great experience and gave me a deep understanding of how technology supports students and educators.”
His dedication and skill didn’t go unnoticed. Brandon Campbell, Director of Unified Technology Support, noted, “Lucas is personable, intelligent, and highly skilled, bringing a professional demeanor along with strong customer service abilities, a solid technical background, and valuable supervisory experience.”
From Burris, he transitioned to a new role at Bracken Library. In that position, he serviced Lucina Hall and parts of West Quad, continuing to expand his expertise across different departments on campus.
Now, Lucas is stepping into an even more impactful role—leading IT for the Administration Building and the Teachers College.
“His in-depth understanding of IT support operations at Burris positions him to excel in supporting the Teachers College, and University Administration,” Campbell added.
Lucas is already settling into his new responsibilities with enthusiasm and momentum. “I’m super excited to be in this new role and have hit the ground running,” he said. “My favorite part is meeting new people and working alongside all the others on campus!”
