Office of Information Security Services
The Office of Information Security Systems is warning Ball State employees of several common scams this tax season, including new phishing attempts, phone calls purporting to be from tax officials, and several specific tax-related scams. See this blog post for a complete list of these scams and tips for avoiding them.
Information Technology Systems (ITS)
Dr. Cindy Cash, Functional Area Technical Liaison in the EPSO, will be presenting at both the Ellucian Live and Evisions 2022 conferences. Her talk for Ellucian Live is titled, “Top ten things to do that will help new functional/technical liaisons/users” and the talk for the Evisions conference is titled, “People, Permissions and the Process: Argos Security for Newbies.” Dr. Cash will be presenting both talks at their respective conferences in April 2022.
The removal of text and phone call notifications for the Duo two-factor authentication system is complete as of February 15, 2022. The currently available options for receiving two-factor authentication notifications are through the Duo app on a smart phone or using a security token provided by the Tech Center.
Unified Technology Support (UTS)
Marchal Hudson, Assistant Director of Unified Technology Support, will be attending the “Geni: Disney Innovation Experience” at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She will be reporting on her experience there after she returns.
