In April, Digital Corps Development Team Lead Hunter Wallace and Developer Drew Heiss attended Google Next, Google Cloud’s annual flagship conference. Google Next is a premier showcase of the company’s latest cloud technologies, product updates, and innovations. Designed for developers, IT professionals, and business leaders, the event features keynotes, technical sessions, demos, and major announcements—especially in areas like AI, machine learning, infrastructure, and data analytics.

“It was fantastic to see technology become more accessible to the greater public, especially with a focus on sustainability and simplifying complex processes like healthcare,” Wallace said.

From launching new tools and services within Google Cloud, Google Next works with local sectors, private companies, and even large industries such as health care and agriculture.

“I signed up for some sessions to dive deeper into some of their mission goals and have also enjoyed networking on the expo floor, where a lot of their big partners are featured such as NVIDIA, Datadog, IMB, and much more,” Wallace shared. “I personally tried to explore educational opportunities using the technology discussed here, like certifications, online classes, and even internship programs”.

Prior to attending the event, Wallace and Heiss wanted to learn more about multi-lingual AI support, which provides users with live translation while talking with others.

It was really cool to see all the upcoming innovations with AI, especially surrounding sustainability and making it more efficient,” Heiss said. “It’s great to know the world is moving towards a more sustainable direction with AI.”
