As AI becomes an integral part of our daily lives, it needs to be taught, understood, and tailored for student, faculty, and staff success at Ball State. Made for everyone, Ball State’s AI website will be at the forefront of this movement.
The AI website enhances the experience for students, faculty, and staff across campus with updated content about AI tools and software as well as training for the tools to be used efficiently, like Adobe Firefly. Training will be separated based on expertise and comfortability using AI to ensure the best experience with the website.
In addition to tools and success through AI, there will be insight into Ball State AI guidelines and ethics to spark a bigger conversation in classrooms. Ultimately, this will be a thorough resource for the Ball State community. Maggie Lewis, Technology Communication Team Lead at the Digital Corps and an integral part of this website creation, explained that,
“As AI continues to become more prevalent in the world and higher ed space, it is important for Ball State to be at the forefront of AI technology. The AI website is a central hub for all AI-related information that students, faculty, and staff need to confidently navigate AI tools and AI’s impact—regardless of skill level or AI familiarity.”
Information Technology is heavily involved in the creation of this website because of its reach across campus, and it is important that everyone across campus is aware of the AI tools available to them and how these tools can be used at the University for day-to-day work. Over time, the AI website will contain student-focused AI tools and an array of infographics to spread the discussion about AI. Digital Corps Training Coordinator, Annie Ashbrook, highlighted that,
“We are in an emerging era of new tools, programs, and assistance from artificial intelligence. I look forward to seeing how Ball State can continue to be an innovative leader within the realm of AI, and how we can continue to serve as a guiding light for others interested in learning and working with AI tools.”
It is important to keep up in a technologically demanding society, and Ball State wants students, faculty, and staff to stay up-to-date and thrive as new technology is being forged. This website will stay independent for a while so the Ball State community can get hands-on experience with AI tools before integrating it into different Ball State applications. Stuart Sipahigil, Senior Strategist for Enterprise User Engagement, affirmed that,
“Our hope is that the new Ball State AI website will help faculty, staff, and students expand their knowledge of AI, understand its uses and dangers, and discover ways to expand their learning and productivity.”
