The Digital Corps was happy to host both Greater Fort Wayne INC and AgriNovus these past two weeks to help connect students to job opportunities. Greater Fort Wayne came to Ball state for a Mini Experience Day and a Career Connection presentation at the Corps. AgriNovus visited the Corps to get an idea of the work that the Digital Corps does and apply the technology side of agriculture to the Corps.
Greater Fort Wayne is an important forum for Allen County. Fort Wayne’s mission is to expand and develop new businesses, secure success for current businesses, and build on the quality of life for the GFW community. In an effort to grow Fort Wayne, their interns share their knowledge and experiences to help center post grad life back into Fort Wayne.
Some of these interns, who are Ball State alums, are a true testament to how important it is to bridge the gap between students and the professional community in Fort Wayne. The Digital Corps was given an interactive and informative presentation about the success Fort Wayne has had in past years, growing their businesses and the city as a whole. The multifaceted IT advancements of Greater Fort Wayne INC. through e-commerce, logistics, and specialty insurance IT is not of sight. Thats why the Digital Corps UX Team Staff, Stuart Sipahigil, is in full support of these visits.
“It’s always great to have organizations like Greater Fort Wayne visit the Digital Corps and give our multitalented
students a taste of the job market out there, but also the kind of work experience they might have after college,” UX Team Lead, Stuart Sipahigil, said
Digital Corps student-workers were given the opportunity to chat with businesses and learn about internships available which will drive Greater Fort Wayne’s mission to get post-grad students to Fort Wayne.
AgriNovus, a science, agriculture and technology non-profit, is part of Cental Indiana Corporate Partnership, which focuses on Indiana’s economic status and growing agriculture in Indiana. Representatives shared with Digital Corps student-workers that agriculture is not just farming and crops, but technology and using advancements in society to help further the success of producing food for the world.
One of the representatives explains that “Agro[Novus] is what touches everyone through food” and that no one is too far from agriculture.” AgriNovus’s Agtech emphasizes the importance of technology in agriculture where IT is aiding in agricultural robotics, docking stations, and data analytics across Indiana.
Coming to the Corps, AgriNovus got insight on the projects and work produced this semester and connected our student-workers to their corporate partners. They gave insight on their summer internships and future career opportunities across Indiana. AgriNovus focuses on business, Entreprenurial and thought leadership development. Agriculture offers innovation and acceleration in technology. Digital Corps Communications Apprentice, Reagan Kunkle explains,
“The visit provided a great opportunity to learn and network with professionals in a field that I had no knowledge of,” Communication Team Apprentice, Reagan Kunkle, said.
Because AgriNovus exemplifies the connection between science, technology and agriculture. It is important for students to remember that agriculture jobs are available in every country and continent, and this visit was a great opportunity for them to consider agriculture when looking toward the future!
