At Ball State, we are fortunate to have talented individuals who are not only skilled professionals, but also dedicated to their roles in their community. One of these individuals include Jerry Vance, a proud Ball State alumnus and the IT Support and Hardware Analysts for Unified Technology Support.

Jerry’s journey is one of continuous learning and commitment. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Ball State, he began his career in IT at Muncie Community Schools, allowing him to build a strong foundation in technology support and problem-solving. However, when UTS had a job opening, Jerry was excited at the opportunity to return back to his alma mater.

After a year of Jerry’s hard work, he decided to get his CompTIA A+ Certification. This is a globally recognized credential that values foundational IT knowledge and skills that are essential in areas such as hardware, software, networking, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity. This certification is a testament to Jerry’s proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues across campus. This is a key milestone for professionals in IT Support, Help Desk Technician, and Technical Support Analysts.

Obtaining this certification is no small feat. It requires a lot of preparation and commitment to mastering core IT competencies. Not only does this highlight Jerry’s technical expertise, it also emphasizes his drive and determination to stay at the forefront of information technology.

“For Jerry, working at Ball State is more than just a job; it’s a way to give back to the community that helped shape him,” Senior Manager of Technology HelpDesk Services, Drew Kimmerling said. His enthusiasm and passion make him a valuable asset to our team and a source of inspiration for those around him.”

Unified Technology Support is proud to have Jerry on board and looks forward to seeing him thrive and make an impact at Ball State University. Congratulations, Jerry, on this well-deserved accomplishment!
