IT’s Digital Corps recently had a visit from Indiana’s TechPoint, an organization focused on “growth initiatives for Indiana’s digital innovation economy.” TechPoint advocates and pushes the bar for technology development in Indiana and came to campus to inspire and give resources to Ball State students. Accompanying TechPoint, Ascend Indiana, a network-building organization, also presented internship and job opportunities to students.

While they had a full day connecting across campus, the Digital Corps was the first stop on the itinerary for these companies. TechPoint shared information about what they do and the resources they hold for the Indiana technology world, specifically resources for students. Discussing one of their personal opportunities called “Xtern.”

Xtern is an internship opportunity for students to interview and be “judged” on their skills and then match with a technology-based internship in Indiana. This opportunity not only gives students the chance to receive an internship, but also gives students a chance to work on their professional development through interviews.

Similarly, Ascend Indiana shared how they share and create opportunities for students to be matched to internship opportunities. They have opportunities for students and post-graduates across all majors and interests including technology.

After the presentations wrapped up, the Digital Corps students had the chance to ask questions and connect with these professionals.
